Case Studies - ADP

Challenge

Despite a large inventory of aging applications and products, ADP sought to remain as agile as its smaller competitors. To do so, it needed to quickly deliver new product lines by combining existing and brand-new business functionality.

Results

Vivat provided extensive analysis of the existing application landscape along with business process modeling in the initial phase of the project. We focused on key business entities and processes that would deliver the most value for ADP. Once the Application Portfolio was mapped to the business model, we then designed the technical architecture. Service-Oriented Architecture supported by the Enterprise Service Bus was the high level architecture selected for the implementation.

IBM's WebSphere Business Integration tool suite was selected for the implementation of the Enterprise Service Bus infrastructure. Object oriented analysis was conducted to discover concrete reusable services, which were further divided into three groups - Basic Data and Process Services, Composite Services and Enterprise Business Process Services. With ESB and a set of horizontally reusable Services in place, ADP was on the path towards implementing a full-blown Service Enabled Enterprise model.
